This is probably my all-time favorite set of illustrations (so far) from Beatrix Potter’s collection. I am a huge fan of whimsy and she does not disappoint in this collection.

The Whimsy of the Tailor of Gloucester

“The Tailor of Gloucester” is a charming tale written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter.

Set in the quaint city of Gloucester, the story follows an old tailor who is tasked with making a magnificent coat for the mayor’s wedding on Christmas morning. However, the tailor falls ill and fears he won’t be able to complete the garment in time.

Unbeknownst to him, his kind-hearted mouse friends, who live in his shop, come to the rescue. While the tailor rests, the mice work diligently through the night, sewing the intricate coat and adding the final touches.

With the help of the industrious mice and their delicate, tiny stitches, the tailor’s work is finished, and the mayor’s wedding coat is ready just in time for the big day.

Printing Tips

For best results choose to have these illustrations printed on either heavy cardstock or a matte photo paper by a print shop. I had mine printed at the UPS Store and they came out fantastically.
