Gather Your Supplies

Before playing Valentine’s Day Bingo, don’t forget to gather a few necessary materials. Here are the items you’ll need:

  • Bingo Boards: You’ll need unique cards for each player (this is important)
  • Bingo Markers: Candies, Dot Markers, Game Pieces, Bingo Chips, or Coins
  • Printable Calling Sheet
  • A Container to Hold the Markers: This can be a bowl or a small bag
  • Scissors or Guillotine Paper Cutter
  • Laminator and Laminating Sheets
  • Cardstock or Printer Paper

Using a laminator ensures your bingo cards will be good this year and next year too! (But definitely not necessary).

Printing Tips

  • Paper: For best results use 80-110 lb card stock.
  • Test Print: Print out a test page to ensure that the cards come out properly aligned and that the images are clear.
  • Print Shop: Use a local shop like The UPS Store (my go-to) for great professional-quality prints.

How to Play with Valentine’s Day Bingo Cards

Basic Rules

  1. Distribute unique cards to each player.
  2. Choose someone to announce the numbers, images, or words.
  3. Use markers to cover called numbers, images (heart, cupid, etc), or words.
  4. Decide the winning pattern (line, X, full card). Traditionally the options would be, horizontally, vertically, or diagonally).
  5. The caller announces numbers, images, or words randomly.
  6. Players mark called numbers on their cards.
  7. The first to complete the chosen pattern and yell “Bingo!”, wins.
  8. If multiple players yell “Bingo!” at the same time, the game ends in a tie.
  9. Verify the win, clear cards, and continue for more rounds!

Variations of Play

Though traditional Bingo is all the rage, sometimes it might be fun to try out something new. For Bingo with a spin give these ideas a try.

Four Corners: Players only need to mark off the four corners of their bingo card to win.

Blackout: Players must mark off every image or word on their bingo card to win.

Letter X: Players must mark off the diagonal lines forming an X on their bingo card to win.

Picture Frame: Players must mark off all the images or words around the edges of their bingo card to win.

Love Letter: Instead of traditional bingo images or words, players use letters to spell out words related to Valentine’s Day, such as “LOVE” or “HEART”.

With these basic rules and variations of play, you can customize the game to fit your needs and have a fun-filled game night.

Using Alternate Markers

If you opt for a permanent bingo chip, such as a dot marker or sticker, ensure your bingo cards are laminated first. This will allow stickers to easily peel off, and markers to wipe away.

Optional Prizes (Keep the Fun Going!)

And when it comes to prizes, keep it simple and enjoyable for all ages. For younger players opt for candy, stickers, or little party favors from the Dollar Tree. For adults, think about funny gifts, candy, or handmade coupons (coffee on you, a lunch date, etc).

Make Your Own Bingo Cards

Get creative with your Valentine’s gifts and parties this year and create your very own Bingo games and themes.
